Luke Ryan
Principal Designer

Luke founded North House in the spring of 2020 with a vision to serve clients with an attentive ear and experienced, skillful design. Luke's design practice is backed by over 15 years experience as a carpenter, contractor and designer working in domestic and commercial environments. From restoring historic downtowns buildings to production framing, to turn-key custom homes, Luke's construction experience brings unprecedented value to the planning phase of construction. He understands that a high standard for plan develpoment and clearly communicating a building's structure, function and aesthetic are key to a successful project from start to finish.

Kyle Madsen
Associate Designer

Kyle believes in crafting space that embraces its occupant, celebrates its context, and respects the materials used in its construction and operation.
Kyle is equally at home with contemporary or traditional vernaculars and strives for economical solutions in space- and energy-efficient packages. He has experience in a wide range of typologies. Past projects include restaurants, medical facilities, early learning centers, historic rehabilitations, multi-family housing, and custom homes. Kyle has a special interest in infill architecture in existing neighborhoods that improves walkability, affordability, local amenities, and a sense of community.

Kyle graduated with a Master of Architecture from University of Idaho in 2021 and is in the testing process toward architecture licensure.

Eric Peterson
Designer

Eric was 16 when he built his first deck for his parents. At that early age, he recognized his love for working with his hands and creating beautiful, functional living spaces. Eric began his career studying drafting and design and working for an architect in the Pacific Northwest. Eric owned and managed a construction company for 15 years in the greater Seattle area before relocating to North Idaho to build a home for his own family. With many years of experience in both the construction and design side of the industry, his passion for design and working with his hands is still strong.

Every home should reflect the needs and desires of the family that lives within. Eric strives to bring that personal design to each project.

Laurabeth Landis
Designer

Laurabeth grew up with her parents remodeling and building homes in the midwest. Her early exposure to old houses gives her excitement to build new ones with traditional elements. She graduated from New Saint Andrews college with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and joined the North House team excited to contribute to the field of practical and aesthetic design. Laurabeth's current focus is custom homes and acceossory dwelling units. Core to her work philosphy is beauty and timelessness to enhance the visual identity of the homeowner and commmunity.

Kurtis Zylstra
Architectural Intern

Kurtis grew up in Western Washington with a love for design from a young age. That passion continued into college at the University of Idaho, where he is completing his Masters of Architecture. Kurtis participated in University of Idaho's Design Build Studio, where he helped design and construct projects on the Palouse that received various local and national awards.

Kurtis believes in finding innovative ways to integrate and immerse design in the land with minimal disruption to the environment.

When not in the office or studying on campus, Kurtis can be found on the soccer fields at the University of Idaho, where he has been a major part of the university's men's club soccer team for six years.
